CONCORD, N.C. – In what might be the worst streak of bad luck any Pro Cup driver has faced, 18-year-old Trevor Farbo once again failed to qualify for a USARacing Pro Cup Series event due to engine failure.
After skipping the first race of the 2010 season due to funding restraints, Trevor Farbo and the Farbo Motorsports team made the lengthy trek to New Smyrna Beach, Florida with hopes of recording a solid performance. After only 10 laps of practice, Farbo’s motor had yet another catastrophic failure.
“We worked extremely hard to make it down here in hopes of making the race and gaining experience,” said Trevor. “We just can’t seem to accomplish that goal due to issues that are beyond our control.
We brought a new car to this event unsure of how it would compete. Everything was going great until about 10 laps into the first practice session when the motor decided to completely fail on us.”
This marks the fourth motor failure for Trevor Farbo since attempting his first Pro Cup start in 2008.
“We needed to run well at New Smyrna in order to generate a bit of revenue that was crucial to keeping our 2010 Pro Cup efforts alive,” remarked a disappointed Farbo. “We only have one engine, and now that one is out of commission with no funds available to fix it.
I am funding this program out of my own pocket, and I had all of my money riding on making that race.”
Unfortunately, Farbo will once again be indefinitely relegated to the sidelines as the USARacing Pro Cup Series rolls on.
“We will be forced to hang it up for now. However, I will continue to rally my own funds in addition to seeking funding from a sponsor that recognizes the marketing potential of our program.”
